GADGETS, GADGETS, GADGETS…

The great thing about FreeBandy is that you really don’t need much more than a stick, a ball and some kind of goal to get your game on. Still, you can add all sorts of equipment suited to your own personal taste and needs.

If you choose to play quick with little tougher rules along with your friends, it won’t take long before you start thinking about different pads and protection. The first thing you should consider obtaining is a pair of light and durable safety goggles. Stunts and draws in FreeBandy are often happening in the knee-area and upwards – so there’s a slight chance of getting the blade up towards your head and face. Always remember to protect your eyes!

If you’re aware of that you and your friends are going to play it rough, with close-up battles, high stunts and shots, let your reason guide you when you equip yourself for the game. A mouthguard is a good investment for example. Other light pads for exposed joints could be a good idea, like knee-pads, elbow-pads, wrist-pads and or/shin-pads. Remember – let your common sense guide. And make sure protect yourself in a way that corresponds with the form and level of your intended game.
