The most common form of FreeBandy is about scoring against the opposing team, through teamwork, and as skillful as possible. What makes up the actual goal can vary in innumerable ways and it’s up to the teams to decide what it should be. The same thing goes for how the score should be kept – and even how to designate the winner, despite the actual score!

Then there can’t be too many rules that say what you can’t do. Common sense and agreements in good manner will be the guide. The idea is that the game should promote creativity and call upon good sportsmanship. Therefore, there are no actual rules for the game; if the two teams are in agreement about how the game should be played, game’s on. Honesty, humility and camaraderie form important ingredients in this sport.

On a spontaneous game level, which means you and your friends, you’re free to set up any rules, qualifications and scenarios you wish – just as long as you all agree on them. Choose the court that best suits the game that you want to play. Only your own imagination sets the limits. The parking lot, the forest glade and the school yard could work just as well as your own back yard, the gymnasium or the drive way. It’s up to you (as long as it’s not restricted areas or someone’s private land).
